Here’s a timelapse video of how I paint each succulent leaf:

I start by painting leaves using water. Then I add the green pigment (Viridian & Pistachio), making sure to have highlights, midtones, and shadows on each leaf. Right before the paint dries up, I add some red pigment to darken the green hue.

I repeat this process all throughout the illustration, making sure that I don’t touch any wet areas. Let each leaf’s gradient dry before painting next to it.

Once the first layer for all leaves is done, I add a light mixture on top to deepen the shadows and strokes.
