Date Night: TBLS Kitchen Studio in Hong Kong

PJ and I love staying (and saving! hehe) at home, so we hardly go out on dinner dates. But when we do go on dates, we go ALL OUT. “Love, let’s go on a date for our anniv!” “Sure, where do you want?” “Hong Kong!” “Game!”

Haha, just kidding. This is so NOT a last minute trip. In fact, the reason we’re here is because of elcheapo piso-fares, purchased months and months ago. Got our roundtrip tickets for P3k only! But those savings were offset by one unique dining experience, which is how we celebrated our 4th year together (including a year and eight months married!).

Private kitchens have (ironically) gained much popularity in Hong Kong. Chefs open up shop in discreet residential buildings, and one can experience dining a multi-course set menu at the ‘chef’s table’ next to an open kitchen.   Each course is introduced by the chef himself. Reservations are always required, as there are limited seats. In this particular one we went to, TBLS, there were only about 14 seats total. And on a Monday night, the place was packed.

We took the Mid-levels escalator to Hollywood Road, and found #31. There is a password given upon reservation, and you use that to enter the building.

We only had to wait a bit before our meal was served. I requested for a vegan meal via e-mail, and it was great that the chef accommodated my request. PJ had the regular (non-veg) set meal.TBLS-03 Date Night: TBLS Kitchen Studio in Hong KongAmuse Bouche:
