I’m on a Craft High! Although I was running on two hours of sleep from the night before, I rushed to Pipino on Saturday for the first ever Craft Soirée that I organized. In case you hadn’t noticed, I love throwing little events and parties (note to self: next time, I need a decorations committee!), but I was quite nervous this time, and didn’t really know what to expect because throwing together a bunch of really creative and crafty strangers together was a pretty new idea. Good thing everyone was super game! All 16 pre-selected crafters were present, ready to share their goodies for the Craft Exchange.
I screenprinted totebags that would hold everyone’s craft loot. Hello, Gocco! 🙂
When I got to Pipino, all the crafters were hunched in little groups.. just like a high school soirée, haha! Except that this was an all-girls event. (Crafty boys are most welcome to join the next one, though! :P)
We had vegan lasagna, tofu lemongrass skewers, vegetable curry, and above: veg tempura and mushroom salpicao! Yum yum.
I began the Craft Exchange with a brief introduction, and then presented my craft and distributed it to everyone. There were a total of 16 participants, including myself.Meet the Crafters!
Everyone took turns introducing themselves and passing their crafts around. And like Macy said, it really did feel like “Craft Christmas“! And Lorra even added, “It’s better than Christmas…I don’t even get this many gifts on Christmas!”
Mansy of HeyKessy passed around some colorful baker’s twine and washi tapes!
Pat also demonstrated her cool thesis project: a skirt that can be worn in 20 ways! That’s Kaich on the right, playing with the moustache necklace from Nikki of JunkStudio.
Apart from her mini chalkboard craft, Wiji of The Curious Studio also distributed some cool pendants! Joanne of QuaintDesk also gave away some crafty tape!
All of their creations were just amazing! We all felt like we were in one of Oprah’s favorite things episode! It was so overwhelming to be surrounded with such talented people. The idea of the Craft Soirée was to make new crafty friends, and I’m happy we succeeded in that. A lot of them even suggested we form an official craft club! Yay!!
