Spent a really chill week in LA with my family there. Sleep + Swim + Shop :)) Total restart. I was on a sugar detox, but it felt like detox from the real world, too. Sooo…instead of going on a foodtrip, I went on a brush & paper binge from a couple of art supplies shops.
Blue Rooster Art Supplies
4661 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles
Bought these Princeton brushes for only $2.50 each!! This is my new fave set. Love the Filbert Grainer for adding shadows on petals and leaves. The Angle Spot Detailer creates the finest list so that you don’t strain your arm while trying to hold the brush too upright. Deerfoot is perfect for adding impressionist detail. The Round Princeton Lauren brush is so springy and versatile. The 18/0 Short Liner brush makes outlining effortless. Also scored some handmade paper from Canada!
Baller Art Ware
3714 Tracy Street, Los Angeles
These super wide Japanese brushes are perfect for stretching paper and for prepping backgrounds. Also bought Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor pads.
While in Silverlake, check out design store Yolk.
My cousin Ate Ria and I enjoyed brunch at Botanica.
Spent an afternoon at Descanso Botanical Garden where lots of artists go to paint. Found my spot and made a quick painting of a rose from the garden!
This view. Can’t wait to go back!:)
