Two of the things that I absolutely love about our country: our tropical gardens and indigenous woven textiles. For this pattern design collection for new clothing brand MariMari, I decided to pull inspiration from our local floral and weaves. I started by painting botanicals using watercolor and gouache, and then scanned and designed the florals over illustrations inspired by local weaves.
There are 5 patterns: Monstera & Yakan, Rosas & Laminosa, Sampaguita & Jute, Waling-Waling & Gaddang, and Monstera & Banig. They’re printed on wardrobe basics: a shift top with a regular fit, a slim-fit sleeveless top, a relaxed-fit shift dress, and a tapered skirt.
The limited collection is available online at shopmarimari.com 🙂
MariMari will be having a TRUNK SHOW at Lanai Manila on July 6-9, Thursday to Sunday, 11am-8pm. Hope to see you there!:)
