This has got to be the best week of my year (so far) 🙂
I celebrated my birthday (and this blog’s 5th anniv) with a Pattern & Print wall collage exhibit and LifeAfterBreakfast Blank Slate sketch pads at Design Week Philippines’ Creative Marketplace!
I had a little pop-up shop where we sold the Blank Slate pads and some wrapping paper with my floral patterns. This exhibit was in partnership with International Fine Paper Exchange (IFEX), which is my go-to source for quality specialty papers. I use their papers for my calligraphy and watercolor workshops, and for all the wedding invitations that I design as well.
My exhibit space was styled by Love and Jamie, the awesome duo of Flora and Fern PH.
Love helped me during the entire planning process, and Jamie was there to do the actual styling. Even with last minute changes in the venue, we easily worked together because of their taste, and their amazing eye(s) for detail. It also is a huge advantage for them that they are photographers, so they really know how to make your spaces photogenic!
Jamie adds leafy elements to my wall collage 🙂
Just to prove how amazing they are, here’s a before-and-after look: At the evening before the exhibit opening, we left the display table for registration/business cards like this.
Since the event was to run for 3 days, Jamie wanted to bring in fresh flowers early on the first morning of the exhibit.
When I came in the next morning, Jamie had already set it up, and it looked like this:
WOW.
Jaw-droppingly amaaazing.
Sooo beautiful with all the pinks, greens, and copper details to match the LifeAfterBreakfast BLANK SLATE sketching and calligraphy pad.
The LifeAfterBreakfast x IFEX Blank Slate pads are now available at select National Bookstore, SM Stationery, and FullyBooked branches! 25sheets of 300gsm smooth black paper perfect for calligraphy, painting, and sketching. It also comes with a script and floral sketching guide! The A4 pad retails for P299 and the A5 sized pad retails for P199.
Many thanks to IFEX PH, especially to Carmela for overseeing this project, and for being with me at the exhibit with Jenny; to Kathryn for helping me plan the booth’s set-up and for being there at the exhibit as well; and to Ms. Nancy for the trust and support!:)
It was my birthday on the Design Week’s opening day, and I celebrated with a Floral Sketching Workshop and an intimate media launch.
Signetura created copper wire bracelets inspired by my floral doodles, and we gave them out as giveaways to the guests. These will make such thoughtful presents for the coming holidays. You can order your custom accessories from them at instagram.com/signetura 🙂
Thanks to Jamie @adashofjamie for these beautiful photos of the exhibit, and of course, for the gorgeous Protea bouquet!!!

Last Saturday, we closed the Design Week Creative Marketplace weekend with an afternoon of Creative MBA talks at HallONE.
PJ Lanot (my husband!) kicked it off with his talk Maximizing Opportunities.
Francis Miranda gave really important and useful tips about being in charge of your own freelancing life in his talk entitled I, CEO.
I shared how I get inspiration from my trips around the country, and hope for a creative nation to give back to the motherland in Creatives For Country.
Fozzy Castro-Dayrit speaks to an eager crowd at the break-out session with her talk, Studying to be Yourself.
Mikko Sumulong and Atty. BJ Palattao gave a tandem talk on Design Licensing: how to get your work out there, and how to protect yourself and your work.
Special thanks to my sister Aia and Hannah for handling registration!:)

Earlier in the week, I also taught a couple of Calligraphy workshops at Design Week Creative Environment: Intramuros, which was organized by the Design Center of the Philippines.
We had brush and pointed pen sessions at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) building.
And as if all of this isn’t amazing enough, my birthday week was capped off by CandyMag.com with a feature on their Creative Space! ☺.♡.❤.♥.⚘.❀.❃.♥.❤.♡.☺ OMG I’m so kilig like a teen na crush rin pala ng crush niya!!! Hahaha!:P
Grateful to everyone who attended the Creative MBA, dropped by the exhibit at DesignWeek, and joined the workshops! 🙂
