I’ve mounted and curated many exhibits in the past: from my students’ Art Adventures end-of-summer exhibits, the startwithMio’s exhibits, to many other group exhibits for other designers. The last time I exhibited my own work was when I was 6 years old, when my art tutor (it was a one-on-one class with my neighbor) included my in her official class’ exhibit. This is the first time I’m doing a solo show.
My idea was to create patterns using my stamps. For a few days, I let myself loose with my art materials, stepping out of my usual design mode where I usually draw thumbnails before execution. This time, I just went for it and attacked the canvas. Although my deadline to fill up the blank walls at Pino was looming in my head, it was such a liberating experience, moving from underpainting each canvas, to stamping over them, with no end-goal in mind. Art kung art! haha.
The exhibit is untitled (for now :P), and showcases my loves: stamps, neon, and patterns. Some of my favorites are the ones below: “Missing Moon” and “Rose Garden”
The exhibit is still a work in progress as I still want to add some more stuff this week. I’m also thinking of holding a little crafternoon there to officially launch it. 😉
You can view the works at Pino Restaurant at 39 Malingap Street, Teachers Village QC.
The resto is open daily from 11am-12mn
